Creative Sign Designs Provides New Signage for 10 YMCA Locations
YMCA of the Suncoast chooses Creative to complete their re-branding and reintroduce itself to America
Tampa, FL. (March 1, 2011) – Across the nation, the Y is adopting a new brand and a new logo to redefine YMCAs everywhere. The Y is reintroducing itself to America to better communicate who they are and what they do. Creative Sign Designs completed re-branding for the 10 locations of the YMCA of the Suncoast in Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, and Citrus counties.
Creative worked closely with Tim Ackerman from the YMCA of the Suncoast to be one of the first early-implementers in the country. To ensure all interior signs are ADA compliant, Creative replaced all indoor signage types throughout the Y’s 10 locations implementing consistent colors, fonts, sizes, and messaging to create the same atmosphere for members and visitors at all locations. Creative Sign Designs provided room identification signs, operating hours, informational signs, rules and life safety signage, donor recognition signs, and custom brand logo signs.
Creative collaborated with the YMCA to update monument and pylon signs, outdoor wall signage, and message centers on the exterior of every campus. This exterior signage plan incorporates the new brand standards including the new font and various color versions of the logo. These 5 unique color logo options give each branch an assortment to choose from and provide a fresh new look using the new brand guidelines.

Creative Sign Designs manufactured and installed over 500 interior signs and 20 exterior signs in 4 weeks, guaranteeing all signs were permitted and code compliant in all existing and new sign locations. A collective effort from the Creative team certified the company could consult, design, fabricate and install the complete YMCA rebranding effort in the short 4 week time frame. Creative’s project manager, design team, and installation crew collaborated to perfect the project’s details and allow for the smooth and quick execution. The company is very proud of their participation in the Y’s continuing rebranding campaign, and is currently working with the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA and the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg to complete their rebranding in 2011.
The 10 locations of the YMCA of the Suncoast serve more than 84,000 members and program participants in Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, and Citrus counties. The YMCA is the largest provider of school-age child care, serving more than 5,000 children daily in over 50 locations with before and after school care, holiday camps, and summer camps. The Y focuses on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
