Creative Signage Ignites Excitement at Lee Roy Selmon’s

Tampa Bay residents get “fired up” for the newest Lee Roy Selmon’s location with custom-designed exterior channel letters and logo signage by Creative Sign Designs

Palm Harbor, Fla. (June 2011) -- Lee Roy Selmon’s restaurants, with locations in South Tampa, New Tampa, St. Petersburg, Bradenton, Sarasota, Ft. Myers, and Palm Harbor, adopted a new branding strategy in June of 2011. Named after Lee Roy Selmon, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ first player to be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame, the restaurants deliver a unique fusion of casual family dining with a sports bar atmosphere. Creative Sign Designs, a Tampa Bay-based full-service architectural signage firm, provided a complete interior and exterior signage package to implement the new look at the Palm Harbor location.

Creative partnered with Lee Roy Selmon’s ownership and design firm to customize the project specifications. The original design and exterior signage package included two sets of reverse (halo) and face-illuminated channel letter sets mounted to the existing building façade and Lee Roy's logo (his number, “63” with a flame) inserted into a formed channel letter of halo, LED-illumination and vinyl graphics. After Creative was awarded the project, their team suggested four new ideas: day-and-night faces for the channel letters, enlarging the flame logo to increase impact, removing the logo’s vinyl graphics to enhance visibility, and replacing the vinyl lettering with flat-cut aluminum to improve durability and resistance to exterior weather elements.

After a tour of Creative’s 44,000 sq-ft facility, showing the company’s exterior fabrication abilities, Lee Roy Selmon’s design firm, Form Design Studio, Inc., invited Creative Sign Designs to partner with the project’s remaining sign portions. Creative’s talented team fabricated and installed ADA compliant interior sign solutions, exterior banner and window graphics, commercial awnings, custom “Reserved” parking signs for Sacks To Go drive-up service, and a custom “Hours” sign with a floating Lee Roy Selmon’s logo for added visual appeal.

The Creative team worked to ensure the project’s compressed timeline and products’ quality standard and details were met. Lee Roy Selmon and current and former Tampa Bay Area athletes attended the Palm Harbor restaurant’s Grand Opening.
