Outdoor Architectural Signs
In their January 2011 issue, Southeast Construction magazine named Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park ‘2010 Best Landscaping/Urban Design Project’. Facing the Hillsborough River as part of the downtown Tampa Cultural Arts District, the 8-acre park can hold 10,000 guests for concerts and special events. Over 180 projects from North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida competed in 22 construction-type categories.
The new Tampa Museum of Art is located in downtown Tampa's Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. The spectacular 66,000-square-foot Cornelia Corbett Center building was designed by architect Stanley Saitowitz as part of the $13.5 million Waterfront Park project. The building features a shimmering pierced aluminum exterior, and state-of-the-art gallery spaces with innovative translucent ceilings and polished concrete floors. Seven expansive interior galleries, one exterior sculpture gallery, 12,000 sq. feet of LED coverage on the south facade, and educational classrooms equipped with the latest technology offers visitors a wide variety of visual art experiences. The museum provides the region with world-class traveling exhibitions, a growing collection of contemporary and classical art, expanded educational programs and access to scenic outdoor events along Tampa's Riverwalk.
We worked with the general Contractor, Skanska along with the Architect, Interior Design team and the Museum director Todd Smith to create a clean look for the architectural signage. Simple white, grey and anodized aluminum were incorporated into the signage to stay consistent with the overall branding campaign. Once the architectural signs were completed, we worked directly with the museum on all the donor recognition throughout the museum which included the naming of multiple galleries, a terrace, an atrium, a rock garden and a large donor wall to represent the capital campaign contributions. In addition, we created the exterior architectural signs which included the largest private donor recognition via dimensional lettering installed on the glass on the exterior of the building. Creative Sign Designs is a proud partner of the Tampa Museum of Art which will become a nationally recognized major arts destination and premier venue for residents and visitors.
